When I heard of a Pajama Sam game I never played when I was a child, I instantly bought it, without looking at the reviews. Let me tell you, I should have read the reviews. This game is ABSOLUTE RUBBISH. I thought the re-dub of Spy Fox in Dry Cereal was terrible. Not only is this the worst voice acted HE game I've ever played (And I played them all, sans this one), its also the worst designed. The world is absolute rubbish, and not just because it happens in the land of garbage. After coming from the food world of Pajama Sam 3: You are what you eat from your head to your feet, which was brilliantly made, this feels like it should have been the prototype before the first Putt Putt and Fatty Bear games. I now know why I missed this game as a child, it should have never existed.. Every time I try to start this game it closes immediately, so I can't even play it.. Pajama Sam returns in his 4th adventure. Unfortunatly i never knew about this game until now. I can conclude that this game isn't good compared to the other three games. I always liked Pajama Sam and his adventures but this game feels blend and unfinished. The voice acting isn't all that great. I heard that they changed the voice actor of Pajama Sam but that doesn't really matter to me because i played the previous ones in Dutch language. I have to mention the music which is really catchy and good! I really enjoyed the music in this game and some of the characters. All in all this game isn't as good as it's predecessors but it isn't a bad game either. At some times it feels unfinished and sloppy but i like the references to the other games in the series.. memories, so many memories, i think i still have the old disc for this sitting around somewhere. This game takes forever, because Sam's new voice actor speaks soooo sloooowly and unenthusiastically. Everything feels less whimsical because of it. I also had a problem with moving between locations, which I didn't have with the other three games in the series. It just feels like this last installment didn't get the love and attention our hero deserves.I mean, it's not unplayable, but... it's not as good as the other games in the series.. Terrible Game. If the first two are nostalgiac like they are for me, don't play this one. It will make you cringe.. I think that thuis game is criminally underratted. I don't think it's fair how people bash Sam's new voice actor. I LOVE it. The new voice brings so much much-needed life to an otherwise dead franchise. This game's use of lip syncing is also phenominaoll. It makes me pre. I find it quite endearing how the story revolves around finding a special comic book because when I was Sam's age, I also loved comic books, and it really brought me back to my youth when my dad would beat me because I didn't celan my room. I think that it is revolutionary how items from sam's messy room appear arounfd the world yhat you explore within the game, and more games should implement these sorts of revolutionary tactics. I really just don't see why people can't understand that this game is a darn masterpiece...abd I don't throw around the word "masterpiece" very often. The fish tank in this game was downright mesmerizing. I was absolutely flabbergasted by it. You might hear people making such ludicrous statements as "da ganme dont worjk and iut crashed duuuurrrr". Well to them I say "BULLCRAP". This game runs perfectly, and graphically speaking, it is one of, if not the best looking game I've ever seen...and I've seen every game ever made. This game is PERFECT!!! Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it since it so blatantly lies to the player. Life is Rough? Excuse me? You think life is rough when I'm playing the best game of all time? ♥♥♥♥ you Atari. You ruined Humongus Entertainment.. I recommend this game, but that's because I love the series a lot. As other players have noted, the original voice actress does not voice Sam, so he has a noticeably difference voice. It's a bit of a jarring change. I can ignore it, but I understand it may bother others. Additionally, the art style and music are different (which kind of makes sense given the time gap between this game and the previous); this isn't necessarily bad, but both seem less zany than previous games. Upsettingly, the dialogue isn't as fun or quirky either, and the voice delivery is as flat as the dialogue. On a technical level, this Steam version, for me, has very laggy cutscenes where the audio would occasionally cut out for some lines. I own this on the original CD too, and I never had such problems. Regardless, the gameplay is also terribly taggy, even on aforementioned CD. When moving from A to B, the screen pauses with an image of Sam exiting before popping over to the new screen instead of a smooth transition as seen in other Humongous Entertainment games. Even the speaking in non-cutscenes is laggy. Another example is the overly laggy Bejeweled-like game, and, possibly lag-related, the stupid drawer game is stupidly easy.Plotwise, the plot still fits with the general feel of the Pajama Sam series (the end progression is weird, though), and I like the trading card system (because I'm also a giant nerd for cards). Thus, overall, the different execution makes the game feel very, very different from its predecessors and not in the best way.TL;DR: I recommend the game because I like the series and the game itself is not bad, but it is flatter, more lackluster, and laggier.. Very good game, and a very reasonable price too, but there is some lag when ever your are heading into a different locations and in cutscenes. But I would recomend this fun and challenging adventure game to basically anyone.
